Stephen Ministry

Do you need someone to walk
side by side with you during a trying time?

What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another.  Through one-on-one caring and confidential relationships, those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them in their time of need.   A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  John 13:34

Who are Stephen Ministers and what do they do?

They are members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church who have gone through 50 hours of training in providing high quality Christian care to individuals experiencing a crises or challenge such as divorce, grief, loss of a job, hospitalization, relocation, or loneliness.  Stephen Ministers are each assigned a care receiver and meet with that care receiver for about an hour a week.  This caring relationship will last for as long as the care receiver needs“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

What happens when you ask for help from a Stephen Minister?

A Stephen Leader will contact you to talk more about Stephen Ministry and what it can mean to you.  If your needs can be best served by a Stephen Minister, you will be matched with someone who will support and walk with you through this tough time.   Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.“  1 Peter 3:8
